Seamwork Milo

Seamwork Milo

The temperatures are finally dropping, so it’s the perfect time to make a cozy Grandpa sweater. In these socially-distant times, I couldn’t think of anything better than a garment that feels like a hug when you wear it.  This is Milo by Seamwork but I lengthened it by four inches.  I searched for cable knit sweater fabric for a while and was surprised how hard it was to find.  I’m pretty sure I ranted on Facebook about it  ?

Thankfully, Minerva.com had exactly what I wanted and provided me with this lovely cable textured knit fabric.  Not only was it exactly what I was looking for, the fabric is available in so many colors that it was a bit of a struggle to choose which one I wanted. They all looked sooooo beautiful! The buttons are adorable wooden pieces that I found on Etsy

This was a pretty quick project. I followed along with the video class, which was really cool.  Did you know Seamwork has video classes for some of their patterns?  Well, they do! You should check them out! The only modification that I made was lengthening the front and back pieces and adding an extra button. Despite it being a soft and heavy fabric, it glided through my serger with no problems. Honestly I think I spent more time sewing the buttonholes then I did the rest of the project.

My camera had trouble with the color of the teal fabric, making it looking more royal blue than teal. But let me tell you in real life, it’s a stunningly rich dark teal. Check out the close-up picture for a more accurate review of this fabric’s color.  This fabric is so soft and supple that I often leave my sweater on my couch just to throw on at a moment’s notice. In fact, I’m wearing it right now!
