Seamwork Finn

Seamwork Finn

It’s a new month so that means new Seamwork patterns! This month, there’s not 2, not 4, but 12 NEW PATTERNS! This is so exciting! One of this month’s new patterns is Finn, a super cute baseball tee. I couldn’t decide between a regular tee and a color-blocked tee, so I just made both! The pattern is so easy to sew that I completed both tees in one day.

The green Finn is made from a super soft Bamboo Spandex that I got from Girl Charlee earlier this year… late last year… time is a bit all over the place for me. <goes to review order history> I lengthened the tee by two inches and graded the sleeve pieces down a couple sizes. The color-blocked tee is completely from fabric scraps – the sleeves are jersey from Girl Charlee (that I bought in 2017 according to my order history) and the rest of the tee is double stretch knit from Fabric.com (also from 2017 – save your fabric scraps).  This time, I graded down the sleeves by a couple of sizes, but left the length as-is.  I also added cuffs to the sleeves. Cuffs are integral to baseball tees because how is the other team supposed to know when I mean business if I don’t have cuffs to push up my arms? Slightly exposed forearm = a fun game amongst friends. Fully exposed forearm = you have sullied my family name and I seek vengeance through this game of sport. I don’t make the rules.

Shirts aren’t my favorite thing in the world to sew, but I love finding new and flattering shirt sewing patterns. This Finn definitely fits the bill!  Finally, if you haven’t registered to vote yet, stop reading this and go do it immediately! The voter registration deadlines start tomorrow (I’m looking at you South Carolina) and I don’t think I can overstate the importance of this year’s election. So do me, your friendly neighborhood black maker, a solid and vote against the racist currently in office. Please and thank you.
