Closet Core Crew Marigold

Closet Core Crew Marigold

Are you part of the Crew? I’m talking about the Closet Core Crew, Closet Core Pattern’s monthly subscription community. You get exclusive patterns, video tutorials, access to live events, discounts to Closet Core Patterns, and much more. One of the first patterns from Crew is Marigold, which was released in February 2023. I loved the warm, golden color of the Marigold from the pattern release pictures and decided to recreate it for myself. For my Old Gold Marigold (I love naming my projects), I used French Terry knit fabric sent to me from Minerva. This quick project was a blast to make and its silhouette is different than anything else I have in my closet.

The Marigold Sweater pattern is a versatile and contemporary design that effortlessly combines comfort and style. Marigold is a knit sweater with gathered dolman sleeves and a bound neckline. It comes in two lengths – semi-cropped with a bottom band and full-length that stops at the low hip. Marigold features a relaxed fit, making it suitable for both casual and dressier occasions. The pattern provides detailed sizing information, including finished garment measurements, allowing sewists to choose the appropriate size with confidence. Closet Core Patterns has once again excelled in providing clear, concise directions that guide sewists through each step of the construction process. I was able to make my Marigold in one afternoon with the help of my serger.

When it comes to sewing projects, the right fabric can make all the difference. The Minerva Core Range Medium Loop Back French Terry Stretch Knit Fabric is the absolute perfect fabric for this project. It’s a medium/heavyweight fabric, but it’s breathable enough to wear nearly year-round. Comprising 95% cotton and 5% spandex, it offers a luxurious softness and a gentle stretch. The looped back adds an extra layer of coziness, that makes Marigold’s chic shape feel like secret pajamas.

One of the standout qualities of this fabric is its versatility. Whether you’re aiming for casual loungewear or stylish everyday clothing, the Minerva Core Range Medium Loop Back French Terry Stretch Knit Fabric delivers. This fabric comes in 96 stunning colors, which is just mind-blowing to me. I really wanted a warm, rich gold fabric and I found exactly what I wanted in the color Old Gold. You can find any and every color you’d like. Speaking of the color, this fabric retains its vibrant color even after multiple washes and doesn’t pill like some knit fabrics do. Since it’s made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex, the fabric is really soft and has a gentle stretch but retains its shape really nicely. It kind of reminds me of scuba fabric, but much easier to work with. It behaved well on my serger and my sewing machine. This was such a fun project to make and I’m looking forward to seeing what else Crew has to offer!
